camping FORT AAN DE KLOP

At just a 15 minute bike-ride from the city center of Utrecht, Fort aan de Klop offers 25 plots for tents on the outside - earthern - defense walls of the fort. The fort doesn't offer plots for caravans or motorhomes. Although the campsite is located within the city limits, it's atmosphere is rural and rustic: while the city closed in on the fort over the course of 150 years, few things changed behind the moat surrounding the fort. In the process of renovating the fort and changing it's defensive origin to a more hospitable purpose equipped to welcome this century's visitor - hostel, campsite and lunchroom - we managed to preserve this historic atmosphere.

The camping saison begins June 1st 2009 and ends at 1st of october.

In "Het Wachthuis", opened daily from 10.00 a.m. till 10.00 p.m, we serve sandwiches, salads, pies and drinks. Fort aan de Klop rents bicycles at a daily rate of € 7,-. We cherish the rural character of the site: sound equipment or radios are not permitted. The use of drugs is not allowed on the campsite.

Parking

There are no parking facilities on the premises. For loading and unloading heavy things upon arrival or departure you are allowed to use the parking space of the house next to the bridge. The parking area is located at a few minutes walking distance from the gate; ask our staff for parking instructions.

Getting there bij bus:

At Utrecht Centraal Station, take bus "lijn 6" direction Zuilen (via Overvecht)
Get out at the busstop Orinocodreef (at the Japuradreef)
Follow the Orinocodreef (15 m. back, in the opposite direction of the bus)
Cross the bridge and turn immediately right
You are now on the Klopdijk, follow the canal (on your lefthand side)
First road to the right: 1e Polderweg, entrance Fort aan de Klop
